A 13-year-old girl has died after she was hit by an MTA bus while riding her bicycle on Knob Hill Avenue in Redondo Beach.
According to Redondo Beach police, Ciara Smith was riding a bicycle with a friend east on Knob Hill Road and was at a curb preparing to cross Pacific Coast Highway when she was hit by an MTA bus traveling south on PCH in the lane closest to the curb. The Parras Middle School student was pronounced dead at the scene; her friend was uninjured.
The bus driver stopped following the accident and stayed at the scene to talk with police. No citations were issued. The investigation into the fatal accident is ongoing.
