A 67-year-old Buena Park man who lived and worked at the Richmont apartment complex has died after he was exposed to a lethal mixture of pool chemicals, according to a news report.
Orange County Fire Authority officials said that Chang Jun was found semi-conscious near spilled pool chemicals that were emitting a yellow gas in a garage at the Richmont apartment complex in the 6300 block of Lincoln Avenue in Buena Park. Jun lived at the complex and worked there as a pool cleaner, according to reports.
Jun had severe burns to his face, back and respiratory track, and was rushed to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died several hours later.
An OCFA Hazmat crew reported finding several pool cleaning chemicals, including chlorine and hydrochloric acid, at the scene. They said that Jun possibly passed out from the chemical fumes, spilling and mixing the chemicals into a lethal gas that he then may have inhaled.
