A driver involved in a deadly car crash in Santa Ana over the weekend has now been charged with driving under the influence and murder. Twenty-nine year old Jesus Segura Herrera or Orange is now facing multiple felonies including second degree murder along and driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent.
The crash occurred early Sunday morning at the intersection of McFadden and Grand. The police report of the incident states that Herrera was driving north on Grand when he rear-ended a Scion XD with the momentum of the cars rolling them across the intersection before stopping in the southbound lanes across the street.
A passenger in the Scion, Jorge Davalos Carrillo of Garden Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash while the driver was rushed to hospital.
Ironically, Carrillo had a prior DUI conviction himself and had responsibly called a friend to pick him up after a night of “being out with friends.” The friend picked Carrillo up and they were hit on their way home.
