A 22-year-old man has been killed and his passenger injured in a single-car accident on McKinley Street in Corona.
According to the Corona Police Department, Joron Portis was driving a white Mercedes north in the 900 block of McKinley Street when for unknown reasons he lost control of the vehicle and slammed head-on into a tree. The severe impact trapped Portis and his passenger in the vehicle. Emergency responders were able to free them both and Portis was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The Corona PD is investigating the cause of the deadly car crash and have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident.
