Three women walking to their car were killed in an Anaheim pedestrian crash by a driver suspected of DUI, who has been arrested and faces numerous criminal charges, according to a news report.
Buena Park police said that the three victims — Carmen Mendoza, 56, her daughter Sheyla Mendoza, 21, and her niece Stephanie Henriquez, 21 – were crossing the street in the 100 block of South Western Avenue following a baby shower when a red Honda Civic crashed into them. Sheyla Mendoza was pronounced dead at the scene; Carmen Mendoza and Stephanie Henriquez died at the hospital.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office said that Anthony Lewis Sanchez, 40, of Buena Park, has been charged with three felony counts of vehicular manslaughter causing death with gross negligence while intoxicated, one felony count of driving under the influence causing bodily injury, one felony count of driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent or more causing bodily injury, plus sentencing enhancements and allegations.
