A homeless man sleeping near an underpass was killed instantly when he was struck by an out of control pickup truck. According to police, the pickup truck was headed northbound on I-405 around 11 pm when the driver lost control of the vehicle; the truck skidded off the highway and flipped over, striking and killing the unidentified homeless man, who was sleeping on the side of the road.
The driver and all three passengers in the truck were injured and taken to the hospital. All four are expected to live. Investigators say that the pickup driver was speeding and under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
