A 49-year-old man died while in custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at an Orange hospital, according to a news report.
The OC Sheriff’s Department reported that Byron Scott, who had been arrested on Aug. 21 for a probation violation, died at UCI Medical Center in Orange while under guard by sheriff’s deputies. The department did not give a cause of death, but released a statement saying that the death did not appear suspicious.
Scott had been held at the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange before being transported to UCI Medical Center two days prior to his death.
