A Seal Beach man has died and three other people have been injured after an SUV crashed into the patio of a Long Beach restaurant.
Long Beach police said that 53-year-old Latham Bell was at the wheel of a Dodge Durango SUV when it left the roadway, hit a palm tree and crashed into a patio of Los Potros restaurant in the 1900 block of Pacific Coast Highway. Bell, who was an elementary school teacher and high school swim coach, died at the scene.
Three people at the restaurant — a 40-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man and a 30-year-old man — sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The woman was trapped under the SUV for an unspecified amount of time.
