An El Cajon teen is dead and a 45-year-old man has been injured in a wrong-way crash in Temecula, according to a news report.
The California Highway Patrol said that 17-year-old Sergio Maldonado was driving a Honda Accord west in the eastbound lane of Murrieta Hot Springs Road near Inverness Way when he collided head-on with a Ford F150 pickup truck. Maldonado and the pickup driver — Timothy Richmond — were taken to Inland Valley Medical Center, where Maldonado later died.
CHP investigators said that Maldonado did not have his lights on during the late night accident and was not wearing a seat belt. The accident is still under investigation.
