The driver of an SUV going the wrong way on I-15 has died and two other people have been injured in a multi-vehicle crash, according to a news report.
The California Highway Patrol said that Jeffrey Murphy, 36, of Fullerton, was driving a Honda CRV north on the southbound side of I-15 in Lake Elsinore when he crashed into a 2004 Honda Accord. The impact caused the Honda CRV to flip in front of an oncoming big-rig, ejecting Murphy from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman standing next to a U-Haul truck on the right shoulder of the freeway was also hit by the big-rig and sustained major injuries. Brooke White, 20, of San Diego, was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Honda Accord – Elbert Barbar, 58, of Murrieta, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
