An unidentified male pedestrian was hit and killed by a big-rig flat bed truck as he crossed Harbor Boulevard in Santa Ana around 6:30 a.m. on October 15th. It was still dark when the accident occurred. The man was crossing Harbor Blvd. about 300 feet south of the intersection with Westminster Avenue when the truck struck him, causing the fatal injuries.
The man, who is reportedly in his 50s or 60s, was transported to UCI medical center in critical condition, and later died from his injuries. Santa Ana Police investigators say the unfortunate man may have been hit by more than one vehicle. Police say the victim’s name will be released after his next of kin have been notified.
The truck driver and another car stopped at the scene, and told Santa Ana police they did not see the pedestrian until the collision occurred due to the early morning darkness. The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but no charges have been brought against the truck driver or anyone else. Alcohol is not thought to be a factor.
