A 19-year-old pedestrian was tragically struck and killed while walking in a crosswalk in Orange Wednesday night, May 19.
According to police, the driver, Sitani Pimoni, (39), was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Pimoni stopped after the crash, at Tustin Street and Heim Avenue, but was determined to be impaired.
A witness told police Pimoni, driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck, ran a red light while driving southbound on Tustin Street before he hit the teenager, attempting to cross Tustin on the north side of the intersection, just before 10:10 p.m.
Police report that Pimoni had a prior DUI conviction out of Los Angeles County in 2007.
He was booked into jail on suspicion of murder and is being held on no bail.
