A Laguna Beach man was fatally struck by an SUV early Monday in Huntington Beach while walking on Beach Boulevard.
Police report that they arrived at Beach Boulevard north of Slater Avenue at approximately 2:30 a.m.
The 30-year-old man tragically died at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of his relatives.
The driver of the Jeep Compass, a 50-year-old Fountain Valley man, remained at the scene of the fatal pedestrian accident. His name was not released.
“It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision,” police said in a statement. “Based on the preliminary investigation, the Compass was traveling northbound on Beach Boulevard and struck the male pedestrian who was in the northbound lanes of Beach Boulevard at the time of the collision.”
