A four-car collision on I-405 that began when a Ford Escape driven by a woman who is seven months pregnant was rear-ended by a Volkswagen Passat sparked a fire that destroyed those vehicles, according to a news report.
The Orange County Fire Authority said that the pregnant woman was driving with her four-year-old daughter in the carpool lane on I-405 in Seal Beach when their car was rear-ended by the Volkswagen, sending it into the back of another vehicle. A fourth vehicle was also involved.
Officials said that a fire started in the first two vehicles, quickly engulfing the Escape and the Passat. Everyone in the involved vehicles was able to escape because traffic was so slow, authorities said.
