A seven-year-old girl was struck by a SUV in the middle of a Santa Ana residential street by a hit-and-run driver, according to a news report.
Santa Ana police said that the girl was walking with her mother on the sidewalk in the 400 block of South Birch Street when she ran into the street and was struck by a dark-colored SUV that dragged her for about 15 yards. The driver left the scene following the accident.
The girl suffered injuries to her head and body and was taken to a local hospital; police said her injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
