Aristides Guerra, 53, of Santa Ana, was tragically killed in a rollover collision involving four vehicles Sunday, May 9 in Costa Mesa near South Coast Plaza.
The fatal car accident occurred at the intersection of Bear Street and Sunflower Avenue.
Police were alerted to the fatal crash at 1:54 p.m. with reports of there being a multiple vehicle accident near the intersection. First responders arrived to discover one of the four vehicles involved in the crash had rolled over during the incident and a driver was trapped inside and unresponsive. The driver was later identified as Mr. Guerra who tragically later died of the injuries he sustained in the accident.
According to police, a second driver complained of pain and was transported with two passengers from the same vehicle to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. A third driver, who complained to emergency responders of back pain, was self-transported to a hospital, while the driver of the fourth vehicle was uninjured.
The cause of the fatal rollover car accident is currently under investigation.
