A 43-year-old man was seriously injured in a bicycle accident on Via De La Valle in Del Mar Heights late Friday evening on March 24.
According to San Diego County police officer David O’Brien, the man was riding a Cervelo ZHT bike in the second westbound lane in the 2200 block of Via De La Valle around 11:55 p.m. At the same time, a 62-year-old man was driving a red 2014 Ford MPV in the same lane.
The driver of the Ford hit the bicyclist, causing the victim serious injuries that are non-life-threatening. The bicyclist was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police are still investigating the crash to determine the cause and factors involved.
