A 14-year-old boy sustained serious injuries when the car he was riding in became involved in a Fullerton car crash, according to a news report.
Fullerton police said that the 14-year-old unidentified injury victim was a passenger in a Toyota Corolla that crashed into a tree in the 1000 block of North Gilbert Street near Hughes Drive. Officials said that the 18-year-old was traveling south on Gilbert and driving at an excessive speed when he lost control of the car and crashed into a tree on the opposite side of the street. The driver was able to climb out of the wreckage, but rescue crews had to extricate the boy, who was trapped in the passenger side of the Corolla.
The 14-year-old boy was taken to UCI Medical Center in critical condition; the driver complained of chest pain and was taken to St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
