A gas station customer was caught in a fiery explosion Sunday night when a driver lost control and slammed into a gas pump at a Chevron in Seal Beach.
The car was driving north on Beach Boulevard when it jumped the curb and crashed into the station located at 2950 Westminster Boulevard. Officers responded to the scene just before 11:30 p.m.
The driver, 44-year-old James Chang of Huntington Beach, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Orange County Fire Authority firefighters responded to the scene and took the customer by ambulance to a nearby hospital who were told are expected to survive.
The fire was extinguished in 15 minutes, and the crash caused $25,000 in damage to the two vehicles and $100,000 in damage to the gas station, according to police.
Chang was being held without bail as of this report.
