An explosion at a West Virginia chemical plant has killed two brothers who were employed there and critically injured another employee, according to news reports, which said that this was the third fatal explosion at the plant in 15 years.
Jeffrey Scott Fish, 39, and James E. Fish, 38, were killed at the AL Solutions plant in New Cumberland, W. V. The third victim, Steven Swain, 27, was seriously burned and is in critical condition at a local hospital.
According to a police report, the victims were working with titanium powder, a highly flammable substance used as an alloy additive in aluminum. Two other workers were killed and another injured in explosions and fires at the facility in 1995 and 2006.
A investigative team from the U.S. Chemical Safety Board and OSHA are investigating the most recent accident.
