A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon because police believe he intentionally caused a crash that involved eight vehicles in Garden Grove.
The collision involved five occupied vehicles, two parked cars and the vehicle belonging to the suspect, Hao Hoan Nguyen of Garden Grove. According to police, Nguyen was approaching the intersection of Lampson Avenue and Harbor Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he collided with several cars waiting at the light. His car then crashed into the parked vehicles.
A 34-year-old woman was injured in the multi-car accident and was taken to UCI Medical Center to be treated for injuries to her face and a broken collarbone. Nguyen fled the scene, but was later arrested after his family contacted police.
