A 30-year-old Fountain Valley man died in a tragic crash with a big rig on the Orange (57) Freeway in Anaheim Wednesday.
According to police, the man, whose name has not yet been released, was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla, which slammed into the rear of a big-rig truck on the freeway near Ball Road.
The driver of the truck told officers he was entering the freeway from Ball when he saw the Corolla in the far right lane going at a high rate of speed narrowing in on him, the CHP reported.
The big-rig crash occurred when the truck was forced to veer to the right to avoid the car, which clipped the truck’s trailer and “impaled the Toyota under the trailer,” according to the CHP. The Toyota driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the truck driver avoided injury.
