A Fountain Valley police officer has been injured after an SUV collided with his patrol car, according to a news report.
Fountain Valley police said that the unidentified officer was driving south on Bushard Street when an SUV driven by a 64-year-old man hit the driver’s side of the patrol car, sending it crashing into a nearby traffic light pole at the intersection of Bushard and Heil Avenue.
Investigators said there are conflicting reports on whether or not the SUV ran a red light at the intersection. The officer was taken to a nearby hospital with a broken hand.
