Four people were hospitalized after complaining of headaches and difficulty breathing inside a Costa Mesa 99 Cents Only store, according to a news report.
The Costa Mesa Fire Department was called in to investigate, and evacuated the building after finding high levels of carbon monoxide inside the store. Investigators said they believe the fumes were caused by three generators that were running inside the store because of a power outage reported in the area earlier that day.
Approximately one dozen employees of the Costa Mesa 99 Cents Only store were evacuated from the building while firefighters continued their investigation.
