Dan Crain of Irvine, California didn’t appear to be in critical condition after he was struck by a car in Orange County on Newport Coast Drive. Nevertheless, the sixty-five year old cyclist died in the hospital from his injuries a week later.
Crain was travelling southbound on Newport Coast Drive when he was hit by a car that was attempting to merge onto the road. Crain was knocked to the ground but remained conscious after the accident and provided police with a full statement.
According to the Orange County Rebel Riders bicycling club, of which Crain was a member, he was a “good friend and wonderful cyclist.” Crain had apparently been recovering from multiple spinal injuries caused by the accident when he unexpectedly passed away.
