A driver was tragically killed early Wednesday, March 10, in a fiery crash in Irvine after their Tesla veered off the road into a tree.
According to police, the Tesla was headed southbound at around 6:40 a.m. on Culver Drive, between Warner Avenue and Barranca Parkway, when for a yet to be determined reason, veered off of the road and hit a tree.
The Tesla caught fire and burned. Tragically, first responders declared the driver dead at the scene.
Police noted that they believed it was likely raining at the time of the fatal car crash, but it was unknown if that contributed to the terrible accident.
