A man identified as Isaac Hernandez Lazaro was killed and his 17-year-old female passenger was injured Saturday when the victim’s car slammed into a home in Tustin.
According to police, the fatal car crash happened at 2:24 a.m. in the 13000 block of Iroquois.
Responding officers found Lazaro and a teen inside the vehicle. Lazaro, 20, of Tustin was pronounced dead at the scene. According to police he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The 17-year-old girl, who happened to be wearing her seat belt, was taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.
According to Tustin police, the driver was going eastbound on San Juan Street at a high rate of speed. The car went through the intersection at Browning Avenue, crashed through a cinder block wall and then into the house. Investigators are looking at the possibility that drugs and/or alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
