Friday morning, 22-year-old Ayomipo Lawal was struck and killed in a bicycle accident on 17th Street in Long Beach.
The fatal bicycle crash happened at approximately 7:45 a.m., near the area of 17th Street and Oregon Avenue. According to police, a city employee was heading south when they struck Lawal.
Long Beach police and fire personnel arrived and tragically pronounced Lawal dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the involved driver remained on-site and cooperated with the investigation. Police only described the driver as a 59-year-old Long Beach city employee.
At this time, Long Beach officials continue to investigate the deadly bicycle accident.
