27-year-old Michael Gurrola of Riverside was tragically killed Thursday following a collision with a big rig on the I-215 in Riverside.
Gurrola was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead soon after arrival. According to police, the fatal big-rig crash occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on the southbound I-215, just south of Columbia Avenue.
Gurrola was driving a Honda Civic in the slow lane when the car slammed into the back of the big rig. It was unclear whether the truck had stopped on the freeway just prior to impact.
