A motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital with injuries after an SUV merged into his path on the 22 freeway, according to a news report.
The California Highway Patrol reported that a Yamaha R6 motorcycle was traveling east on the 22 freeway when the driver of a Mercury Mariner merged out of the HOV lane directly into the path of the motorcyclist. The rider swerved to the right to avoid the SUV and crashed into the back of a Silverado pickup truck that had stopped in traffic.
When Orange City Fire Dept. paramedics arrived, they found the motorcyclist lying in the freeway; he was treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital.
