A motorcyclist was tragically pronounced dead being struck by a van on Orange Street in Riverside on Thursday, March 3.
The fatal motorcycle crash occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m., in the area of Orange Street and University Avenue.
According to police, a 23-year-old Riverside County resident was driving a 2016 Ford Transit Connect Van west on University Avenue. For reasons unknown, the vehicle collided with a motorcyclist traveling eastbound on University Avenue.
First responders located the motorcyclist with major injuries. Medics then took him to Riverside Community Hospital where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
At this time, officials have no information about the victim’s identity. Meanwhile, the driver, who remained unharmed, stayed and cooperated with the authorities.
California Highway Patrol officers stated that it is uncertain at this time if drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident. However, an active investigation is underway.
