A 21-year-old Murrieta man has died after his bicycle was hit from behind by a suspected drunk driver in Lake Elsinore, according to a news report.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said that Mark Heigel was riding his bicycle on Railroad Canyon Road when he was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Thelma Trachy, 75, of Murrieta. Heigel was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he later died.
Trachy was arrested on suspicion of causing injury while driving under the influence of alcohol; an investigation into the fatal bicycle accident is ongoing.
