One man was killed and another seriously injured following a head-on collision on the Ortega Highway.
The crash occurred early this morning west of Lake Elsinore near the Orange County line when a 25-year-old man’s Honda Civic drove into the oncoming lane. A 56-year-old man from Menifee, CA in a 2018 Dodge Challenger was unable to avoid Civic and hit it head-on.
The man driving the Civic was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. The Menifee man suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Inland Valley Medical Center where he was last reported to be in stable condition.
The accident led to the closing of the highway for three hours while the cleanup and investigation took place.
The incident remains under investigation and neither driver’s name has been released yet.
