Authorities say three people were killed Tuesday in a crash involving a big rig on the 57 Freeway in Pomona.
The crash happened at about 3:30 a.m. near the Temple Avenue exit of the southbound 57 Freeway. Images from the scene showed the wreckage of a red SUV wedged underneath the back of a big rig’s trailer.
Police have identified two of the victims in the big rig crash as Vivian Nguyen, 19, and Alberto Soriano, 26. Nguyen and Soriano were in a red Chevrolet Suburban that veered off the southbound freeway. The SUV then crashed into the back of a big rig that was parked on the right shoulder of the freeway.
Nguyen and Soriano both died at the scene. The name of the third victim has not yet been released.
