A woman was killed following a car accident involving a man suspected of driving drunk on Saturday, Aug. 22 in Irvine.
Irvine police were dispatched at 8:46 p.m. Saturday to a crash at the intersection of Main Street and Culver Drive, where witnesses reported seeing a black Hyundai Elantra collide with a white Ford F-150 driven by a man who then immediately tried to flee the scene in his truck.
Paramedics rushed a 20-year-old Irvine woman from the passenger seat of the Hyundai to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana where she tragically died from her injuries.
The pickup was stopped by officers a short distance away from the crash and the driver, Antonio Calixto Navarrete, 40, of San Clemente, was arrested on suspicion of hit and run, DUI and murder.
