A San Clemente swim school owner rescued a 2 ½-year-old girl found floating in a hot tub at the school, according to a news report.
The Orange County Fire Authority said that the toddler was found floating in a hot tub at Waterbabies, a San Clemente swim school. The school’s owner, Wendy Gallagher, performed CPR on the girl until paramedics arrived; the girl was taken to Mission Hospital and released the next day.
According to a Waterbabies administrator, the girl’s nanny was supposed to be watching the child but was distracted while talking on her cell phone. Another nanny noticed the girl floating in the hot tub and pulled her out. Gallagher said that the school’s policy was to allow small children into the hot tub only if an adult is supervising. She said that parents have been told that they are responsible for watching their children and not to use cell phones.
