A 14-year-old Trabuco Canyon boy has been killed after a driver suspected of DUI crashed into a truck driven by the boy’s cousin in Huntington Beach, according to a news report.
Huntington Beach police said that Ethan McEnally was a passenger in a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by his 18-year-old cousin when it was hit head-on by a Nissan Frontier truck on Newland Street in Huntington Beach. McEnally was trapped in the pickup following the crash and paramedics used the Jaws of Life to rescue him. He was taken to Huntington Beach Hospital in critical condition, and later died from his injuries.
McEnally’s cousin was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center with moderate injuries. Another passenger, an 18-year-old male, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange with minor injuries.
The driver of the Nissan — Jaime Xahuentit Palacios, 39, of Santa Ana — was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence causing great bodily injury and driving without a license.
