Two Garden Grove sisters had to be hospitalized after they suffered injuries from being shocked in their backyard pool, according to a news report.
Garden Grove police said that a 15-year-old girl and her 23-year-old sister were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange after being shocked in the pool in the 11400 block of Rainier Court. Both were swimming in their backyard pool when the younger sister who was in the deep end called for help from her older sister and then went face down in the pool. The older sister said when she went to the deep end of the pool to try to save her sister, she suffered an electrical shock that numbed her arms and legs.
When paramedics arrived, the younger sister was unresponsive on the pool deck; her father was administering CPR. Paramedics restored her pulse and breathing, and she remains hospitalized but is expected to make a full recovery. The older sister was hospitalized and released.
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the electric shock.
