A 51-year-old Santa Ana man and a 57-year-old Vista woman have been killed in a wrong-way crash on I-15 in Escondido, according to a news report.
The California Highway Patrol said that the man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of relatives, was driving a Honda Civic north in the southbound lanes of I-15 and struck a Mercedes SLK head-on. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mercedes was identified as Barbara Lynn Astorga, 57, of Vista.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the wrong-way crash.
