The five victims of the Santa Ana plane crash have been identified by the Orange County coroner’s office as: Scott Shepherd, 53, of Diablo, Lara Shepherd, 42, of Diablo, Nasim Ghanadan, 29, of Alamo, Floria Hakimi, 62, of Danville and Navid Hakimi, 32, of Los Angeles.
The small twin engine 1973 Cessna 414 crashed on Sunday afternoon at approximately 12:30pm. The plane contacted the John Wayne Airport control tower requesting to make an emergency landing just prior to the crash.
The Cessna impacted on a parked car with no occupants. All passengers on the plane were killed, but there were no injuries to anyone on the ground.
According to the LA Times, eye witnesses said that they saw the plane turn before suddenly diving toward the South Coast Plaza shopping center. The plane was crumbled and broken into sections.
