According to the California Highway Patrol a woman was killed on the 5 Freeway when she ran crossed traffic following a car accident that occurred in Anaheim on Monday night.
The CHP received a call about a crash on the southbound side of the freeway, and then immediately received another call about a pedestrian running across the northbound side of the same freeway.
The pedestrian, a female driver who was involved in the initial crash, was hit and killed while crossing the freeway. It is not known why she exited her crashed car, hopped the divider and attempted to cross the northbound lane.
The initial rollover crash happened on the freeway at about 8:56 p.m. near Disneyland Drive.
Coroner personnel were summoned to the site of the accident at about 9:16 p.m.. The identity of the woman killed has not yet been released but we will update it here when it is.
