An 8-year-old boy has been seriously injured after nearly drowning at an Irvine community pool, according to a news report.
The Orange County Fire Authority said that the unidentified boy was part of an organized pool activity at a community pool in the 600 block of San Marino. Adults supervising about 30 children during the event saw the boy in distress and pulled him out of the pool. The boy was unconscious and not breathing; an adult performed CPR and he became responsive.
The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange in serious condition. Fire officials said that they have responded to 24 drowning calls in the past month, 13 of which were fatal.
