A 53-year-old Balboa Island woman was killed by a suspected drunk driver in a three-car crash on the 22 freeway in Garden Grove, according to a news report.

The California Highway Patrol said that Aida Gonzalez had stopped her Toyota Camry on the inside shoulder of the divider between the eastbound 22 and southbound I-405 freeways.  A Toyota Corolla driven by Charline Vilchis, 21, of Long Beach, was reportedly traveling at 65 mph in the No. 1 lane and for an unknown reason swerved to the left and hit Ms. Gonzalez’ Camry.  The force of the collision sent the Camry spinning into traffic, where it was hit by a Jeep Liberty.

Ms. Gonzalez was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she was pronounced dead shortly following the accident.  Vilchis was arrested on suspicion of DUI resulting in injury or death.
