Bicyclist John Clauch (68) was tragically struck and killed in Huntington Beach on Thursday, May 27. The driver of the car involved was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, Clauch was hit while crossing the Pacific Coast Highway on 1st Avenue at around 1:35 pm, by a silver Toyota Yaris heading west.
Clauch was found to be unresponsive when police arrived and was rushed to the hospital, but was later confirmed dead.
Police stated that the driver stayed at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the investigators. He was described as a 23-year-old man from Bloomington who was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
