Bicyclist Timothy John Briley was tragically struck and killed in a crash with an SUV driven by 70-year-old DUI suspect Barbara Front in Huntington Beach.

Huntington Beach Police Department officers were called at approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 to Pacific Coast Highway, north of Admiralty Drive, where they found a black 2018 Toyota RAV4 had struck a bicycle.

Investigating officers determined that the RAV4 was traveling southbound on Pacific Coast Highway and struck the bicyclist traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the roadway, north of Admiralty Drive.

The bicyclist was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries. The cyclist was identified as Timothy John Briley, 42, from Huntington Beach.

The driver of the Toyota RAV4, who police identified as Barbara Front, of Huntington Beach, remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The investigation of the fatal DUI crash is ongoing.
