Thomas Stout of Grenada Hills, California was minding his own business early one Sunday morning when he was struck by his own car and killed in a bizarre traffic accident.

When the accident occurred, Stout was loading some items into the back of his car, which was parked on Rinaldi Street, west of Babbit Avenue in Grenada Hills. It is quite possible that Stout never saw Josef Byron Britt III bearing down on him in his Chrysler Sebring.

For reasons that have not been revealed by police, Britt slammed the Sebring into a line of parked cars, smashing up three of them and sending Stout to the hospital. The sixty-six year old Stout was pronounced dead on arrival. Britt suffered only minor injuries.

Britt, who is a resident of Rialto, California, was arrested by police at the scene of the accident and has been booked for felony vehicular manslaughter. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
