Old Auburn Road in Granite Bay, California was the scene of a near-fatal pedestrian accident recently. A fifty year old woman was taking a walk down the road, near Allegretto way, when she was struck by a vehicle driven by a fifty one year old resident of Granite Bay. There is no indication that the two knew each other.

Having suffered what emergency-responders called “life-threatening” injuries, the woman was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition. In the wake of the accident, Old Auburn Road was closed for five and a half hours. During that time the Roseville Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team conducted an investigation into the accident.

While it is encouraging to see the local officials take this accident so seriously, it is unfortunate that fatal pedestrian accidents like this one happen so frequently in California.
