Deadra Hughes was tragically killed in a crash with a UPS big rig on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Jurupa Valley on Tuesday, February 1.
According to police, Hughes (54) of Anaheim hit the back of the UPS tractor-trailer, then veered into the center median. The fatal crash was reported at approximately 9:40 p.m. Tuesday on the eastbound freeway near Valley Way.
Police report that the front of Hughes’ SUV collided with the rear of the UPS tractor. The Nissan then veered across all traffic lanes, struck the median wall and came to rest in the HOV lane.
The UPS trucker, who was not hurt, immediately stopped and called 911.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the scene of the deadly big rig crash within a few minutes and employed life-saving measures on Hughes, who was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where she tragically died a half-hour later.
