Three people were hurt in a traffic collision between a car and an ambulance on south Newport Boulevard and Fair Drive in Costa Mesa on Tuesday.
At approximately 12:40 pm a car struck a private ambulance on its way to the hospital with a patient. The ambulance was had sirens and flashing lights engaged when, according to police, a driver collided with the ambulance in the intersection.
Costa Mesa Firefighters arrived at the scene and realized how critical the patient was. Medics immediately continued that patient on to a local hospital.
At the scene of the traffic accident, two patients inside the Lynch ambulance were found with mild to moderate injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was also assessed and treated. All were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
