The Orange County Coroner’s Office said that Elizabeth Eddleman died as the result of injuries she sustained in the crash when an SUV hit the driver’s side of her 2010 BMW coupe. Irvine police reported that Ms. Eddleman’s BMW was traveling south on Rosa Drew Lane when it was hit by a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer traveling west on University Drive. The force of the impact sent both cars into a postal truck and a minivan in the intersection.
The driver of the Mountaineer, a 26-year-old female from Corona del Mar, was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. No one in the minivan or the postal truck was injured.
